Argentina 2003 – 2013: A “decade won”

(Washington, D.C.) May 25, 2013 heralds new anniversary commemorating the “1810 May Revolution,” when first patriotic government in Argentina was established in a landmark step along country’s road to independence. Over 200 years later, May 25, 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of another process of profound political, economic, social transformation in Argentina during presidencies of Néstor Kirchner (2003-2007) + Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (2007-2011/2011-today). In overcoming worst crisis in its history, Argentina since 2003 has forged an unprecedented pathway of sustained growth, social inclusion and democratic consolidation. The past ten years have marked a “decade won” for Argentine people. Production and the investment have risen to historical levels; exports have tripled; millions of jobs have been created as industrial output expanded, debt was reduced. There has been historic progress in human rights and justice; poverty has been drastically reduced and democracy is stronger today. The education recovered its core place, fostered by a strong push for scientific research and technological innovation which contributed to increasing value added creation and reversing the human capital flight. Regional integration was deepened in the context of an independent and invigorated foreign policy in full compliance with international law. Much has been accomplished over past decade in Argentina. The following ten milestones illustrate some of the main achievements: a Sustained economic growth; a Job creation+ social inclusión; More and better education for all; Expanding frontiers of science and technological innovation; Globally integrated; Significant debt reduction; Unwavering defense of human rights; Expanding rights; Regional integration and multilateralism; a More competitive and plural media (…..) Ten years ago, the government and Argentine people joined forces to overcome the worst crisis in our history. Today, Argentina has won the opportunity to look back over the past decade with great cause to celebrate May 25, 2013.
